ATTENTION: You can now buy Girl Scout Cookies online

Yes, you heard correctly. Everyone’s favorite cookies are now orderable online, so no more worrying about getting your hands on some if you don’t know a Girl Scout!

Starting today, February 1st, 2022, you can use the Girl Scouts’ Cookie Finder at https://www.girlscouts.org/en/cookies/how-to-buy-cookies.html to search for booths near you or you can order them online.

Their CEO, Becky Traweek, is so excited to release their virtual cookie booths so that people can still safely support their Girl Scouts during the pandemic and open the door for people to support the Girl Scouts even if they don’t know one personally.

You can also support the Girl Scouts through their “Cookies for Heroes” program, and in case you needed another reason to buy yourself some cookies (as if, right?), you would get to show some girls how to be an entrepreneur and the rewards of hard work.

The University of Mississippi Investigates Just How Much Medical Marijuana Can Help With Pain Relief

After receiving a 1.37 million dollar grant from the National Institute of Drug Abuse, the University of Mississippi began its studies on cannabis and its many components.

Nicole Ashpole, Mahmoud ElSohly, and Jason Paris have been investigating the hundreds of compounds in marijuana aside from THC and CBD to see which ones help with pain relief while avoiding addiction potential.

This research team believes that they can help HIV patients in particular since they participate in smoking more often than the negative population in order to manage their chronic pain.

The University of Mississippi has been involved in cannabis research for over 50 years and provides standardized marijuana products with the National Center for Natural Products Research.

“Our research capability, our expertise, our knowledge in the areas of cannabis chemistry and production, our personnel and facilities – everything reflects our deep commitment to excellence in cannabis research,” director of the university’s Marijuana Project, Mahmoud ElSohly said. “We are proud of the work we have done and continue to do as this field of research continues to grow.”

UM continues to further its cannabis research standardizing marijuana extracts, bulk plant material, and cigarettes all with varying THC and CBD amounts and some with none at all.

The team at the University of Mississippi will continue their efforts in discovering what marijuana can do for our health and helping as many people as they can.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse supports this research through award no. R01DA052851.

3 Tips to Make your home coffee taste like Starbucks

Sponsored Content by Starbucks

1.) Buy all of the flavored syrups!

A huge hallmark of Starbucks is the myriad of flavors available which they create with their (you guessed it) flavored syrups

(see how many they have in the back like seriously a lot of syrups)

2.) Look up recipe dupes!

Starbucks has so many drinks it can be overwhelming but luckily there are people that have done the troubelshooting on mimicking their drinks already. Here’s a helpful page from insturctables to get you started https://www.instructables.com/id/Starbucks-Copycat-Recipes/

3.) Buy Starbucks products!

Starbucks sells their coffee beans and even some of their drinks already premade if you REALLY wanna have the flavor of their stuff at home…you might as well use what the experts use.

Seriously though, this ^^^ is how happy and pro you’ll look making your fancy coffee drinks at home.

Millenials are attacking Boomers on social media-Who’s the Asshole?

Back in 2016, Baby Boomers tried to start #HowtoConfuseaMillenial on Twitter and were absolutely shocked when millenials used the hashtag to make fun of boomers instead…example below.

Funny Baby Boomer

But now with the insult “ok boomer” trending, it’s only fair to start asking who the real asshole generation is. Let’s begin with some tweets from the millenials for some context.

Unfortunately since Twitter is dominated by millenials, it was very difficult to find anything from the Boomers. However their arguments mainly consist of links to articles antagonizing millenials, that millenials are the rudest generation because of their phones, and that millenials spend too much money on brunch thus making them unable to afford a home right out of college.

Funny Baby Boomer

The fact of the matter is that the scenario in which a generation grew up will always impact their values. For example, Baby Boomers value loyalty causing them to find one job and stay with that company while Millenials will quickly quit a job since they value their own happiness and passions. So, with that in mind, who do YOU think is the asshole?

The 5 Essential Things for Social Media Marketers to Remember in 2020

1.)Social Media keeps growing (yay for you!)

With over 1 million people joining social neworks EVERY DAY in 2017, this should not be coming as a shock. However some anticipated trends with social media do include the growth of Instagram as a platform and the use of social media for product research. So, keep your product heavily advertised out there people.

2.) Learn to love videos if you don’t already

With 81% of 55-64-year-olds watching videos online every month, increased messaging (people using audio snippets/videos to communicate rather than text), and social media now being used to kill time and connect with friends rather than give life updates all should lead you to the conclusion to hop onto the bandwagon of videos.

3.)Become a Social CEO

Employees now have great power over the perception of a company, and thus, they should be monitored by the employer to ensure positive and accurate branding/representation of a company online. Get used to being online and learn how to communicate authentically and directly as this tends to be received well among consumers!

(^^^That’s you when you control your company’s image on social media)

4.)Bow down to Amazon and invest in mobile

While none will be able to truly surpass Amazon’s impeccable advertising platform, you can help yourself by creating organic content with your products on your social media. Additionally, taking the time to make sure you are easily accessible and user friendly though mobile would give you a leg up, especially seeing that only 14% or brands over a one page checkout in comparison to the usual three page checkout (which leads to frustrated customers).

5.)Gen Z cannot be stopped

While Millenials are currently the most common generation found in the work force, Gen Z is coming up behing them…so it might be helpful to read up on some statistics on the genration of your up and coming employers and coworkers.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
