This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.
This is the post I chose to boost. I had not utilized my Facebook nearly enough this semester so that was the first post I gravitated towards, but I realized it was genuinely a good idea. This is the introductory post and discusses the main reason and purpose of this account ie. why people should follow my page.
I decided to just put $5 behind this post, because I had never sponsored a post before. I wanted to see how much traction a post could gain with just the bare minimum amount of money behind it. It ran from April 27-May 2.

I included a screengrab of what I designed for my audience. I was extremely surprised that it was mostly men, because I designed this to fit women a bit more. I think maybe the Entrepreneurship interest had something to do with that.

My post reached 204 people which I thought was pretty good considering I only spend $5 on this post. I don’t know if I had any expectations going into this but I would say this amount at least met them if not exceeded them. I included a screengrab of the locations it reached because this surprised me. I did not expect Texas to be first or California to be second just because I assumed this post would be shown to people geographically close to me first, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the geographic reach it achieved.

I was not at all surprised that mobile app news feed came up first here. However I did think it was interesting that I popped up from the Facebook search results at all, and I consider that a victory for sure. I also didn’t realize just how many ways there were to pop up via Facebook which is nice to have a visualization of. On the whole, I appreciated having my eyes opened to what putting a little bit of money behind my content can do!

My first post included me and two of my friends in Georgia using the HSM audio from “I Want It All” that’s been circulating on TikTok. I did accidentally post it on my personal account first, but I think that ended up working in my favor. I believe this mistake helped me add the principle of social currency to a post that I was originally only intending to use for the principle of triggers. Seeing my personal account on a business page feels like a fun little secret even though I handed it right to my audience, but the trigger principle comes in because of the audio. The trigger would be even better if my page had one trending audio that I used frequently similar to @kaycebrewer making a dance to “Words, Words, Words” by Bo Burnham. This is an extremely effective trigger because now every time I think of that song, I think of her dance and her TikTok page similarly so Budweiser and “wassup” or peanut butter and jelly. However, I think since my video was put into a funny context that the people who have seen it may remember it (and me) whenever they hear the trending HSM audio.
My second post was far more directly shooting for the social currency principle. It was an audio that was trending previously, so I hope that worked as a trigger for viewers as well. The audio I used simply says “I know something you don’t. I know something you will never know.”, and I referenced that I would be going to one of my favorite spots in Georgia. The reality is I will be posting a video the next day showing the shop I went to, but people will have to come back tomorrow if they want to see what I was talking about. It might not quite be a Please Don’t Tell, but it will more than likely motivate people to revisit my page and potentially give me a follow if they enjoy the shop.
@itsmadelinecolombo my best kept secret for when I visit Georgia 🔮💕 #fyp
♬ As It Was – Harry Styles
My third post was simply the reveal of the store I was talking about in my previous TikTok. It definitely plays into the social currency principle as this is not a popular spot just yet, but I think it’s an absolutely gorgeous store. This would also attract the kinds of clients that I want, because this is a store that would be of niche audience interest. In addition to attracting the kinds of clients I want, if this turned into me partnering with Pheonix and Dragon itself that would be even better. I believe this also has a sprinkle of the public principle involved. Anyone watching my video can clearly see that the shop was relatively crowded, especially by the rock wall, so it is clearly a shop the locals enjoy which may motivate more people to give it and my page a visit.
My fourth post on my Instagram was purely going for the principle of emotions. Believe it or not, I am beginning to feel extremely sentimental about graduating and my past 4 years at this university, so it felt fitting. I chose to utilize Instagram for this one since I primarily wanted to use pictures to show my story. Additionally, I think this post, in particular, would be effective considering how many people know what it feels like to graduate from college. Since this is a VA page, I thought a post making it apparent I will be receiving my Integrated Marketing Communications degree would also be beneficial. I am aware of the psychological studies saying that low energy emotions such as sadness don’t garner as much sharing or action, but I think this post is also relatable which helps its case. I think people that come across my page would enjoy and physically like the post that shows a huge part of my life and more than likely theirs. Like Contagious mentions, I even applied a bit of the story principle by accident. This post tracks a HUGE and meaningful chunk of my college career which provides room for people to ask more questions and learn more about me.
As everyone knows, not a single character was safe while watching Game of Thrones, and many of us lived in fear as we watched every episode of our beloved fantasy series. However, there are also plenty of deaths that we yearned for, and that is exactly what this article is about: celebrating the most satisfying ends GoT gave us. That being said, obviously, I will not include any deaths from (TW) the Red Wedding or any other overly traumatizing moments.
10.) Daenerys Targaryen
Now, I know I promised I wouldn’t dig up trauma, but I could not ignore how less than satisfactory Dany’s death scene was. It’s been said before, but her descent into madness meant to mimic her father should have been a slow burn for at least a season. Her death would have been far more interesting with the conflict of the audience and Jon knowing it had to be done but also knowing how much love we both had for her.
9.) Gregor and Sandor Clegane
While I’ve kept The Hound and The Mountain at the bottom, these two deaths were still worthy of the top ten due to how long-awaited this fight was alone. Having them fall into fire was slightly poetic in highlighting The Hound’s biggest fear, but having their deaths be offscreen was the downfall here, no pun intended.
8.) Night King
'The Long Night' director Miguel Sapochnik says the Night King had a 'very long' fight scene but he cut it
— GoT Facts & News (@Thrones_Facts) September 1, 2020
'At the end of an 80-minute battle, do I really care if the Night King's got some fancy moves with his spear?' pic.twitter.com/SLopcVNGe1
I can’t forget about the big bad of the entire show, but again, it all seemed too easy making the satisfactory level of this death pretty low. We were all waiting for a big battle or a big struggle, but even with the surprise of Arya killing the Night King, it was ultimately too rushed.
7.) Walder Frey
(also Walder Frey when he sees Arya) pic.twitter.com/dC5C1iQREu
— Binge Mode (@binge_mode) July 31, 2019
I think we can all agree that we were happy when this old bitter man bit the dust, especially due to the shock factor of Arya using one of her disguises. Unfortunately for Frey, his nightmare of being more irrelevant than some of our other villains kept him on the lower end of this list.
6.) Lady Olenna Tyrell
Again, I know I promised no trauma, but while Lady Olenna was beloved, I argue her death was nowhere near as sad as it could have been. She had lived a long life, and her final line of “Tell Cersei I want her to know it was me.” made this death one of the biggest plot twists of the entire show and all too fun to watch.
5.) Tywin Lannister
The fact that Tyrion got to kill the man that made his life a living hell is reason enough to put this death on the list, but having him die in the humiliating position of being on the toilet easily skyrocketed this man’s death to the top five for me.
4.) Cersei and Jamie Lannister
I decided to combine another death since it was another simultaneous one. Honestly, I can admit this should probably be a bit lower on the list due to the fact we were all disappointed in Jamie for choosing Cersei instead of killing her himself. However, we all waited for Cersei Lannister’s death for far too long for this to not make the top five.
3.) Peter Baelish (Littlefinger)
From sexualizing thirteen-year-old Sansa Stark to backstabbing just about every character he interacted with, we had been waiting for this evil man’s death for seven whole seasons. The set-up of the scene to make it look like Sansa and Arya were arguing only for him to realize they had finally outsmarted him made this death all too good.
2.) Joffrey Lannister
You all saw this one coming. Honestly, the only reason he isn’t number one is because I know we all think he deserved more torture than that poison gave him for the things he did. Props to Lady Olenna for doing anything it took to protect Marjory though.
1.) Ramsey Bolton
Quite possibly the only worse villain than Joffrey on the entire show, everyone was happy to see this sadist go. His death inched out Joffrey by just a tad just because of how poetic (and painful) it was that he got eaten alive by his own dogs.
There you have my list for the top ten most satisfying Game of Thrones deaths. To close us out, I’ll leave you all with the words of Eugene Lee Yang of the Try Guys “I’m right, you’re wrong, shut up.”
Despite Lia Thomas following all of the NCAA’s rules about competing in a different gender category, it seems like it is not enough to keep many female athletes and others content. Per the title of this article, many people feel like she is taking away wins from women. As we struggled to figure out why seemingly everyone is so outraged, we stumbled across this tweet.
A photo of a late-term aborted fetus is a photo of a fetus that usually wouldn't have survived, is greatly missed and unrepresentative of most terminations. A photo of Lia Thomas is just a photo of Lia Thomas. pic.twitter.com/vcjHD0Npv2
— Victoria Smith (@glosswitch) April 7, 2022
This also explains why so many things about Lia Thomas are being taken out of context, and there is an example of that below. They want to focus on the one thing they can cling to which is that Lia Thomas was born a male biologically, but that does not change the fact that she is a woman. While not everyone on her team at Penn State is an active supporter of her, recently a photo of her separate from three of her teammates has been circulating with the claim that they did not support Lia’s win. However, that is not the full truth behind the photo.
There are lots of opinions about Lia Thomas becoming the first transgender woman to win an NCAA swimming champion. Here are the facts: This viral photo does not show her opponents protesting her win. https://t.co/qw7G7oyDzJ
— MediaWise (@mediawise) April 14, 2022
In addition to Lia Thomas, policies against the trans community like the one seen below are being pushed all over the country. Aside from the fact that the quote from Gene Mills is blatantly misgendering any trans female athlete, Blake Paterson also raises the point that Lia Thomas did not even win every category of the NCAA that she competed in. She came in 5th for her 200 yd final, 8th in her 100 yd freestyle, and only placed 1st in her 500 yd freestyle.
Gene Mills, head of the right-wing Louisiana Family Forum, says "allowing males to enter women's sports virtually guarantees a rigged competition." (Worth noting that Lia Thomas didn't win all the events she competed in at the NCAA event last month)
— Blake Paterson (@BlakePater) April 7, 2022
Additionally, we have tweets like the one seen below. Aside from more misgendering, Beth Stelzer is acting like Lia Thomas is not a female athlete herself. Any athlete’s biological sex should not matter. Lia went through two years of HRT before moving from the male to female team at Penn State which is over the one-year minimum needed before transferring teams. The HRT had the expected effects of shrinking Thomas by an inch, decreading her strength, and redistributing her fat; her body has gone through an intense toll just so she can be herself.
"Athletes like Lia are male, they should compete on the male team." @SaveWomensSport founder @BethStelzer speaks out for moms fighting for female athletes amid the Lia Thomas controversy. @EmmaRechenberg
— Newsmax (@newsmax) April 7, 2022
MORE: https://t.co/rMQLZLrrnx pic.twitter.com/dIArDkfSZn
Even Mike Pence hopped on with his opinion, stating that Emma Weyant, who placed 2nd in the 500 yd freestyle swim, was the true winner of the race. Luckily for the Thomas and the NCAA, he cannot declare a winner so Thomas gets to keep her rightfully earned and fought for title.
It was nice to be provided with a resource to explain things from the perspective of other transgender athletes and what it is truly like, so it is also linked in this Tweet below. To those who are claiming ANY trans athlete underwent HRT just to win a trophy might want to give this a listen.
In light of all the misinformation and confusion about Lia Thomas we @translashmedia are re-airing our conversation with actual award-winning trans athletes about what it’s actually like; separating fact from fiction. 🏳️⚧️ https://t.co/pdj2EBqq8a
— Imara Jones (@imarajones) April 7, 2022
On a kinder note, @tomdeblass featured this young woman on his Instagram who articulated herself extremely well on her stance on Lia Thomas.
Last but certainly not least, this text post provides loads of insight and detail into trans female athletes, and the caption provides valuable sources for those who want to learn more about trans women in sports.
With Tiger Woods coming back to golf in The Masters a short 508 days after nearly losing his leg, Twitter is blowing up with all kinds of memes, praise, and opinions. Don’t worry, we pulled the highlights for you though.
1.) Some actual information on the entire situation so that you can enjoy the memes to come later
Against all odds, Tiger Woods teed off in the Masters Thursday for his first truly competitive tournament since a car wreck that damaged his right leg so badly he was faced with the prospect of amputation.

3.) Now this one is a bold statement, but hey let’s hope he wins

4.) This might not have been one of the top tweets but with Tiger trending at 175k we can’t say it’s wrong.
This app is just going to be an online Tiger Woods patron gallery today and you might as well get used to that right now.

5.) Just…this.
If tiger wins I’ll eat a golf ball

6.) And he most certainly surprised everyone on 14

7.) A good indicator that he’s back and means business
loud F-bomb from Tiger on the broadcast. we’re back, baby
— Mike Golic Jr (@mikegolicjr) April 7, 2022
8.) And of course a joke at the expense of how long one of the other players is taking
I swear to god if Tiger has to wait all day because Bryson is double checking the Pythagorean theorem I might lose my mind.
— Joe Musso (@MooseOnAir) April 7, 2022
9.) And lastly, a more controversial but still important viewpoint
Not to spit in your ice cream bowl today, but Tiger Woods was going nearly 80 and was out cold when he crossed two lanes, flipped a median and two oncoming lanes before smashing into a tree. And he never even got a ticket. Now tell me about "all he's been through." #Masters

My Crowdtangle list for this assignment has the theme: Animals/Animal Shelters
What page on my list posts the most content? How much? Is it working for them?
@austincatsanddogsrescue posts the most, they post about 9.14 times a day, and considering they had the second-highest growth percentage this week I would say it is.
From the pages on my list, here’s the post that’s gotten the most interactions over the last 30 days.
I think it was so popular because it’s a truly heartwarming story. People forget that abuse is not always violent and that neglect is also a form of abuse, so I imagine that seeing this story made a lot of people think while having a happy ending.
Here’s the one that has overperformed the most (last 30 days).
Here’s the one from the last 30 days that has most underperformed.
I think it underperformed because it’s a branded post. Aside from the meme, there isn’t much interesting content there for anyone to resonate with, and you can tell that the caption is just copied and pasted from somewhere. It doesn’t feel genuine.
Here’s the Video post that people commented on the most from last month.
Here’s the most popular post of the year so far. (Most total Interactions)
Here are a few Branded Content posts (2 or 3) pages on my list have posted this year.
Based on the results I think Branded Content on these pages does not typically do well. @dogsofinstagram is the only page I have that has posted any branded content at all, and they have to entice people to keep looking with a meme almost every time. I think that is also because not many of these pages consider themselves “influencers”. A majority of the pages related to animals that post more than once a day are shelters, and I don’t imagine they get a lot of brand deals.
What question would I want to use this list to answer?
I would want to know which page has the highest interaction rate in the past week vs this year.
What is the answer?
It’s @weratedogs for 7 days and @catcafebk for this year.

I recently had the opportunity to ask David Comeaux (far right) of American Factory Direct, a 3rd generation family-owned furniture business, about some of his favorite spots in Mandeville, Louisiana. As a local business member himself, he gave me tons of local spots to support while you’re in town.
1.) For casual dining, he picked Mi Mamacitas. He loves this seemingly hole in the wall Mexican spot, because they have great food and an awesome atmosphere for his children, 14-year-old Noah Comeaux and 12-year-old Kate Comeaux.

2.) For date nights with his wife Tracy Comeaux, he prefers to go to Restaurant 527. This is a local spot owned by renowned chef Pat Gallagher, and he can never resist getting a filet from here.
3.) While David is not much for dessert himself, he does recommend the Flan from Mi Mamacitas from his casual dining pick. However, more often than not his kids (who you can see pictured with him and his wife Tracy below) can convince him to swing by Bop’s which as anyone from the South knows, is worth the trip.

4.) Despite not having an affinity for sweets, he did have recommendations for some post-dinner drinks at both Pat’s Rest Awhile (also owned by Pat Gallagher) and the Ponchartrain Yacht Club. Both of these spots are on the Mandeville lakefront which give customers an amazing view to go with their drinks.
5.) While David is also not much of a shopper, he did credit local store Marsh and Bayou which he will occasionally stop by for all his necessary fishing gear.
6.) He also credited the favorite store of Tracy and Kate Comeaux, Gran’s Attic which is a consignment store near enough to their home that Kate can bike there whenever she wants to find something new to wear.
Moral of the story is that there’s plenty to do in Mandeville. If you’re in doubt, David enjoys taking the family for a bike ride around Old Mandeville and picking a spot on the lakefront for dinner.

The Memphis Zoo family of giraffes has just grown a bit bigger with the birth of a new baby they have decided to name Mashamba.
She is the second baby in one year to her mother, Akili.

Akili had “Bogey” prior to Mashamba, and she did not have the normal material instincts to help nurture him. However, she is now nursing Mashamba and helping nurture her.
Despite the scary looking casts, the wrappings are just there to help align her lower leg joints which is extremely common in giraffes. Mashamba is perfectly healthy!
Mashamba already stands at 6 feet tall, and she’s 115 lbs. And the best part about all of this? She’s available for viewing in her exhibit already!
The whole herd of 9 giraffes can’t wait to meet everyone at the Memphis Zoo soon.
